A national logistics and transportation company is hiring a Director of Fleet Maintenance to lead maintenance strategy across its Midwest terminals — a senior leadership role owning uptime, cost-per-mile, and a multi-site technician organization.
We are looking for a Director of Fleet Maintenance in Chicago, Illinois. This role owns the maintenance strategy for a multi-terminal fleet of heavy- and medium-duty trucks and trailers. Reporting to the VP of Operations, you will lead shop managers and technicians across several Midwest locations, driving fleet uptime, preventative-maintenance compliance, warranty recovery, and cost-per-mile while building a safety-first culture. What you'll own: - Maintenance strategy and budget across multiple terminals - Fleet availability, PM compliance, and DOT/CSA readiness - Leadership and development of shop managers and technician teams - Vendor, warranty, and parts-procurement relationships - Capital planning for shop equipment and fleet replacement Requirements: - 10+ years in fleet or heavy-duty maintenance, with 5+ in multi-site leadership - Deep knowledge of DOT regulations, PM programs, and fleet KPIs - Experience managing maintenance budgets of $10M+ - Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or a technical field, or equivalent experience - Willingness to travel between terminals Compensation: - $130,000 to $165,000 based on experience, plus performance bonus - Full health, dental, and vision; 401(k) with match - Company vehicle and relocation assistance available
