A North American logistics provider is hiring a Fleet Asset & Maintenance Manager to take ownership of its trailer fleet. The fleet includes 3,000+ leased and owned trailers and a growing tractor fleet, maintained through vendor partners. The mandate is clear: make disciplined repair, replace and retire decisions, cut wasted maintenance spend, and improve utilization. This is a standalone role with no direct reports, reporting to a VP in operations. Location & travel: - Fully remote, anywhere in the United States - Occasional travel to yards (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Indianapolis and Chicago), a few times a year What you'll do: - Own the trailer asset inventory and lifecycle, from acquisition through retirement - Lead the trailer fleet optimization program: remove aging and underperforming units and plan replacements - Run repair approval governance and repair-versus-replace decisions - Analyze maintenance spend, find savings and put controls on uneconomic repairs - Source, vet and manage repair vendors with scorecards and performance reviews - Build weekly and monthly reporting for operations, finance and leadership - Improve trailer utilization and pool productivity across locations What you bring: - 5+ years in fleet management, transportation, equipment management or maintenance leadership - Experience with trailer fleets, maintenance programs and asset lifecycle planning - A track record of managing maintenance budgets and delivering cost reductions - Audit instincts: spotting under-utilization, aging assets and wasted spend - Vendor management and negotiation experience - Strong Excel and reporting skills - Background at an asset-based carrier or on the shipper side is ideal - Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience considered What's offered: - $100,000 to $110,000 USD base salary - Bonus tied to results - Fully remote
