Certus Technical Search is working with a major transit operator to hire a Fleet Maintenance Manager for their Concord location. This is a key leadership role where you will directly impact fleet reliability, service delivery, and overall operational performance. Leading a team of Supervisors and licensed 310T Technicians, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring a safe, fully operational transit fleet in a high-demand environment. While this role is primarily based in Concord, travel between three additional North Toronto locations will be required as needed to support operations. This position is ideal for a mechanically strong leader who enjoys managing teams, driving performance, and working closely with internal stakeholders and clients to maintain high service standards. What will your day look like? Oversee all fleet maintenance operations, ensuring buses are safe, compliant, clean, and road-ready Drive maximum fleet uptime and availability to support service delivery Ensure all maintenance activities align with company policies, procedures, and contractual obligations Identify process gaps and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and performance Collaborate with the leadership team to address operational challenges and improve service levels Lead hiring, scheduling, performance management, and retention of mechanics and apprentices Ensure all technicians maintain required licensing and complete ongoing training Oversee preventative maintenance programs, inspections, and major repair initiatives (HVAC, engine work, etc.) Manage and track maintenance claims and related documentation Oversee multiple functions including Maintenance, Body Shop, Parts, Facilities, and Cleaning teams Ensure administrative tasks are completed accurately (invoicing, reporting, KPI tracking, personnel updates) Drive productivity, accountability, and continuous improvement across the operation Support additional operational requirements as needed What do you need to qualify for this opportunity? Licensed 310T Truck & Coach Technician (required) with strong hands-on mechanical background 7+ years of experience within a commercial fleet maintenance environment (truck, bus or coach), with 3+ years of experience managing a fleet or maintenance operation Strong leadership, organizational, and team management skills Calm, solutions-focused mindset with strong communication abilities Comfortable using maintenance management systems and general computer applications Proficient computer skills (MS Office programs and preventative maintenance software). Willing and able to support hands-on work when required What can we offer you?
