A school bus operator is hiring a Lead Hand for its Kitchener division. Reporting to the Division Foreman, you'll lead a team of 310T technicians, keep a fleet of about 200 buses safe and on the road, and stay hands-on, spending most of your day on the floor turning wrenches with the team. Schedule: - Permanent, full-time, Monday to Friday, day shift - Salaried role; extra hours are banked as time in lieu - Occasional road calls across the Waterloo Region, with a service vehicle provided What you'll do: - Lead the shop floor: assign work, set priorities and check the quality of completed jobs - Work hands-on as a 310T technician, at least 75% of your time on the floor - Train and mentor a team of 310T technicians and an apprentice - Make sure safety rules and safe use of tools and equipment are followed at all times - Process work orders on a computerized system and track shop KPIs through telematics - Support the foreman in keeping day-to-day shop operations running smoothly What you bring: - 310T Truck & Coach Technician licence (310S is an asset) - 5+ years in a Lead Hand or Foreman role - Truck, bus or transit background; school bus experience is an asset - Strong electrical and wiring diagnostic skills (Freightliner and International chassis, Cummins engines, hydraulic brakes) - Comfortable with computerized work orders - Personable, organized leader who can manage different personalities and multitask - Valid G licence with a clean driver's abstract - Your own set of hand tools What's offered: - $80,000 to $85,000 per year, with some flexibility for the right person - Benefits after 3 months: health, dental, vision, life insurance and EAP - Paid time off and time in lieu - Annual $200 safety allowance - On-site parking - A family-feel, long-established company
